{"id":1189,"date":"2020-07-06T16:05:13","date_gmt":"2020-07-06T16:05:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.zillionsbuyer.com\/blog\/?p=1189"},"modified":"2020-07-06T16:05:22","modified_gmt":"2020-07-06T16:05:22","slug":"what-is-miniature-circuit-breaker-mcbs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.zillionsbuyer.com\/blog\/what-is-miniature-circuit-breaker-mcbs\/","title":{"rendered":"What is Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCBs)."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>M<a href=\"https:\/\/www.zillionsbuyer.com\/product\/3546\/lt-miniature-circuit-breakermcb-sp-b-curve-sp-63a-hsn-8536\">iniature Circuit Breaker (MCB 3<\/a>) :<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are miniature, moulded case ac air\nbreak circuit breakers intended for protecting industrial commercial and\ndomestic installations as per IS 8828-1996<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Such <strong>circuit breakers<\/strong> are available having voltage rating up to 240\/415 V rms and current ratings up to 300 A associated with breaking capacities up to 2400 A at 035 power factor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At first sight these breaking capacities\nmight appear small, but as in the case of moulded case circuit breakers, the\npossible short circuit current is limited by the impedances on the source side\nof the breaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;If\nthe source consists of direct connection to the low voltage side of a small\ntransformer, the short circuit current is likely to be in this range, though\nthe power factor might too severe<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, the faults in MCB circuits are\nto a large extent limited by cable resistance. On a single-phase-to-earth\nfault, 5 meter of 10 mm aluminium cable will limit the short circuit current\ngenerally to below 5000 A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Current limiting technology has resulted in\nthe development of MCB with fault current handling capacity up to 10 kA, high\nenough for most of the applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-medium\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"260\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zillionsbuyer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Miniature-Circuit-Breaker-MCB-3-300x260.jpg\" alt=\"Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB 3)\" class=\"wp-image-1190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.zillionsbuyer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Miniature-Circuit-Breaker-MCB-3-300x260.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.zillionsbuyer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Miniature-Circuit-Breaker-MCB-3.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption>Miniature Circuit Breaker (MCB 3) <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The fault energy in these MCBs is\nsubstantially reduced.
