These characteristics are specified for certain ambient\ntemperatures 20. 40\u00b0C and a suitable correction factor is specified for other\nambient temperature conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;The\ntripping mechanism characteristics can be designed for specific requirements of\nthe distribution circuit. Current transformers are not used with MCCB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"214\" height=\"235\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zillionsbuyer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/What-is-Moulded-case-circuit-breaker.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1209\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The thermal setting is usually adjustable\nbetween 50 and 130 percent of the rated current for overload protection as\ndefined by IS 382 and magnetic setting between 300 and 1200 per cent of the\nrated current for short circuit protection<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In case of ally magnetic tripping mechanism\nthem current characteristic overload setting is usually been the range of 75\nand 200 per cent and instantaneous setting bets and 1200 per cent Other\nprotection provisions, such as shunt or under voltage &nbsp;release and one or two auxiliary switches are\navailable as options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The breaking capacity is a limitation only\nwhere the source impedance is very low and highly inductive. Since the minimum\nsource impedance can be readily calculated in the design of many installations\nfor a given location, the suitability of moulded case circuit breakers in such\na location can be readily assessed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the other hand, in improving the power\nsupply which has the effect of reducing the source impedance of a system\nalready fitted with moulded case circuit breakers, due notice should be taken\nof any limitations of the breaking capacity and provision made in the modified\ndesign.&nbsp; Modern current limiting MCCB\nafford very low let-through energy and belter protection coordination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&nbsp;Three\nimportant applications of MCCBs are main incoming circuit breaker for secondary\nside of transformers, distribution feeder protection and motor control.
